2016: New Year’s Goals

2016, about me, New year, resolutions, Uncategorized

So I’ve been pretty bad this past year. 2015 has been a year of laziness, uncleanliness and filled with unfulfilled blog posts.

I know, I’m horrible.

But I do plan on changing that in 2016. The New Year starts in almost a week and I’m excited for the new possibilities it brings.

We’ve got 366 days of hard work, excitement and possibilities coming ahead of us. 2016 will be the year where I hope to stick to my plans and fulfill my goals.

I wanted to make a post about my goals for the coming year so that I could hold myself accountable- or actually my readers could hold me accountable.

I am the type of person that thrives on the energy of others. Having you guys be apart of my goals will keep me loyal to them. I’ll come back every 3 months to see what I’ve accomplished so far.

So here goes nothing!

New Years Resolution 2016

  • Declutter! Declutter! Declutter!
    • I want to minimize the amount of material items I own.
      • Shoes
      • Blouses
      • Jeans(!)
      • Indian/Pakistani clothes
      • Makeup
      • Kitchenware
  • Be punctual
    • My manager hates me. I’ve been consistently late since I’ve started my job albeit never more than 5-10 mins.
    • My goal is to get to work on time and leave work on time. I plan on taking a lunch break every single day to recharge. I also want to get to party invitations on time as well as be ready for any guests before their scheduled arrivals.

  • Weekly Date Night
    • Hubby and I rarely go out on dates anymore. We used to go out every week but in the past year we’ve taken to spending our ‘date nights’ curled up on the sofa with a book or Netflix. This year I want to spend at least 1 evening out out evening if it is just a walk around the block.
  • Volunteer
    • When I was younger, I used to spend one weekend every month volunteering. As I’ve gotten older, I’ve had more responsibilities and less weekends to myself. The tradeoff has been that I haven’t been able to spend time helping those who are not as fortunate as me. My goal is to spend at least 1 day physically volunteering every 3 months and to have at least 1 day a month where I either donate financially or with material needs.volunteer.gif
  • Focus on the positive
    • 2015 was filled with lots of negativity through social media. I’ve seen a lot of hatred towards people of other cultures, religions, ethnic backgrounds. In the coming year, I want to change that. I want to reach out to those that are having a hard time accepting and loving others. I want to spread a positive message and create a healthy environment where human beings can be respected and loved no matter where they are from, what religion they are and what color their skin is.
  • Be more organized
    • I want the year 2016 to be the year where my purse is clean, my floor is spotless and the counters are wiped clean. But I also know that that’s not something I can keep up with on  a daily basis. I will however try to make sure that every night before I go to sleep I will be prepared for the next day. My goal is to make sure that I have my purse ready, my clothes ironed, my lunch made, the dishes washed, and the living room tidied.

So here are my top 6 resolutions for 2016. Of course there will be moments that I will not be able to give 100% to these goals. But I know that at least I will have a more peaceful year ahead.
