San Diego! Here I come.

2016, summer, Uncategorized, vacations

Happy Labor Day! Put away those white jeans and sip on that last summer sunshine.Labor Day was always the unofficial last day of summer when we were growing up. Summer started on Memorial Day and ended on Labor Day. Speaking of Memorial Day, back in May, hubby and I took a trip out to San Diego during the Memorial Day break.

Having lived in Dallas for 3 years now, I miss having access to the beach. We either have to drive a few hours to Galveston (4 hours) or about 12 hours down to South Padra for a ‘decent’ beach.

The flight to San Diego was short and sweet. As soon as we stepped out of the airport, we were greeted by gloomy clouds that threatened to rain, but never did.

The more time we spent in SD, the more we realized how awful the drought in California was. The trees, shrubbery, and grass was gone. Coming from lush Dallas, where rain has been abundant this year, the comparison was stark and quite honestly shocking.

During our trip we went to La Jolla, Coronado, San Diego, and also drove up north towards LA and hit Laguna Beach and Crystal Cove.

Memorial Day Weekend Getaway- Houston

clothing, dallas, fashion, hijabi, houston, Lifestyle, memorial day, rainy weather, style

As many of you know, my parents live in Houston and I make the long, tiring 4.5 hour drive from Dallas to see them at least once a month.

Hubs and I usually drive Friday night and stay until Sunday afternoon, but this weekend we’ll be staying until Monday evening because we both have Memorial Day off.

My weekend bag is usually packed with various outfits and accessories. Our weekends in Houston are unplanned and mostly spontaneous filled with dinners, parties and other activities.

This Memorial Day weekend, my parents have a party planned on Saturday, a lunch with one of my best friends, a concert and a potential trip to Galveston or Kemah.

As you can tell, my weekends in Houston are crazy!

Take a look at what I’ve packed for this weekend trip.

Saturday House Party & Errands

I ended up changing into Indian clothes for the house party.

Sunday Lunch date & Rahat AK concert

sunday outfit

Top: Lucky Brand Floral Wrap Dress ( on sale $15!!)

This casual outfit was made a bit more ‘fancy’ with accessories. I added a pair of heels and jewelry to dress up the jeans and wrap dress for the concert.

Saturday outfit

Top: Forever 21 Belted Plaid Shirt Dress

Jeans: Demi Curve Boot Cut Jeans

shoes: Nine West OVERIT D’ORSAY FLATS

Accessories: Forever 21

Traveling and running errands calls for a casual outfit. Jeans are my go-to bottoms for days when I have to run errands. I wanted to incorporate red, white & blue into my outfit to represent Memorial Day and all the fallen heroes who helped protect our freedom today.
