What is in my traveling skincare bag?

2017, Beauty, houston, naked palette

Hubby and I are weekend travelers. Whether it is a weekend in the cabins, or a drive down to Houston, we like to save our vacation days and head out to experience some adventures for the weekend.

This past weekend I headed out to my parent’s house in Houston to celebrate my sister’s birthday. We usually leave right after work so that means I have to pack an overnight bag quickly.

In order to make my packing experience less tedious, I keep a beauty bag with my favorite default items.

I get my favorite items in a sample size or a traveler’s size from Sephora. This way I have the same products to use even when I’m traveling.

Skin care-

Neutrogena makeup wipes|Origins Checks & Balances Frothy face wash|Origins GinZing scrub|Origins Original Skin Serum|Josie maran argan oil|Rose water

If it’s been a crazy weekend and I’m exhausted this is my holy grail. I just wipe my makeup off using this, and rinse before heading straight to bed. If I’ve got more time, then I use the frothy face wash & scrub. Most of the time, especially if I wore makeup that day, I’ll use the face wipes, then use the scrub just to make sure my skin is baby smooth. I’ll use the rose-water as a toner and follow-up with my serum & the Argan oil depending on how oily my skin is.

Naked skin makeup|Urban Decay concealor|Kat von d tattoo liner|Elizabeth Arden pencil liner|Voluminous mascara|Naked palette|Anastasia contour kit|Stila Stay All Day liquid lipstick

If I’m going to Houston for a normal weekend, then I usually pack these items. A good base consists of my foundation and concealor and that’s what I build the rest of my look on. My sisters usually have the more elaborate items I can borrow if need be. I tend to pack the basics and change-up my lip color to change my look. The Naked Palette has a good range of neutral colors so that I can use that for day looks as well as night looks.

I prefer a bold eye look over a bold lip look but if there is a special event then I will use my bright Stila lippie.

If I’m traveling for a wedding, then I pack some additional eye colors in gold, silver, and sometimes even my Anastasia Modern Renaissance eye shadow palette. That palette has some nice rose toned colors that go well for weddings and other events.

Memorial Day Weekend Getaway- Houston

clothing, dallas, fashion, hijabi, houston, Lifestyle, memorial day, rainy weather, style

As many of you know, my parents live in Houston and I make the long, tiring 4.5 hour drive from Dallas to see them at least once a month.

Hubs and I usually drive Friday night and stay until Sunday afternoon, but this weekend we’ll be staying until Monday evening because we both have Memorial Day off.

My weekend bag is usually packed with various outfits and accessories. Our weekends in Houston are unplanned and mostly spontaneous filled with dinners, parties and other activities.

This Memorial Day weekend, my parents have a party planned on Saturday, a lunch with one of my best friends, a concert and a potential trip to Galveston or Kemah.

As you can tell, my weekends in Houston are crazy!

Take a look at what I’ve packed for this weekend trip.

Traveling and running errands calls for a casual outfit. Jeans are my go-to bottoms for days when I have to run errands. I wanted to incorporate red, white & blue into my outfit to represent Memorial Day and all the fallen heroes who helped protect our freedom today.

Water Wall- Houston!

Houston has many treasures hidden between the concrete & steel structures. One of these treasures is the Gerald D. Hines Waterwall Park.

The park is located in the prestigious Galleria area in Houston.
Hidden behind trees and building such as the Williams Tower, the 2.77 acre park is easily missed if you drive too fast.

A 64 foot semi-circular structure draws your attention as soon as you enter the park. The fountain mimics the feel of a real life water fall as it circulates the water throughout the structure.

Masala Kr3W- Dallas Days 1&2

best friend, dallas, fashion, houston, new york, texas

For those of you who don’t know me, I used to live in Long Island, New York. My parents moved to Houston when I was almost 18 years old meaning I had to leave behind my best friends.

I was 12 years old when I first met my best friend. She was two months younger than me, attended the same religion school, and was a striking blonde, tall Pakistani girl named Hafsa. Amirah is Hafsa’s younger sister who happens to be my younger sister Mahreen’s best friend.

How lucky is it that my sister and I have best friends that are related?! This made our childhood so much more simple! Every time I wanted to hang out, my sister & Amirah got to hang out also.

M&A midtown Dallas

The four of us have been best friends for 14 years!

Mahreen & Amirah had spring break this week and decided to take some time out to come see me in Dallas. Mahreen drove down with me from Houston, while Amirah flew in afterwards.

We had 3 days to spend in Dallas together before we head out over to Houston to see the rest of my family.

Dallas Day 1:

The first day was pretty low key. Amirah flew in around 3 pm and we had lunch at Fadi’s Mediterranean Restaurant. We drove around Dallas downtown just a bit then headed home to relax.

Fadi's Lunch Buffet

Dinner was home made steak, mashed potatoes, and biscuits. Amirah has never has steak!

Dallas Day 2:

Our day started off on a high note. The Reunion Tower is a 561 ft tall structure that oversees the downtown skyline. The observation deck is a circular outdoor area where you can walk around.

The outdoor section is fenced in so that you can take pictures without worrying about your safety.

Me & Amirah

We made our way to Downtown Dallas to Klyde Warren Park to people watch.

We ended our day by heading over NoodleWave- a halal thai restaurant in Richardson. The food was delicious as always. We ordered the basil chicken for appetizer to share.
