Feburary Favorites

I’ve had the opportunity to try a lot of new products in the past year. It’s been a blessing to be able to test my skin and my routine with various foundations, lotions, and tons of different make up products. Obviously, each and every person is different and there are going to be some things that are my absolute favorites that you might not like, and things that I dislike that are your absolute favorites.

That being said, let’s take a stab at my favorites from this month!

Skin Care

I’m getting old. There is no denying that and with age comes a whole myriad of skin changes. I’ve been trying to avoid using crazy ingredients and keep to a more holistic approach to taking care of my skin. That being said, I do not ever intend to stop using my Clarisonic. It’s been the one thing that I always run back to whenever my skin doesn’t feel soft and supple. I use it with my Philosophy Purity face wash. It’s a crucial part to my weekly cleansing routine.

I’ve always been a toner girl. I’ve had uneven skin tone since I was a teenager and I’ve been using a toner to combat that. When I was younger, I’d use the alcohol-free toner from Neutrogena. It was cheap and worked when I was younger. Now that I’ve gotten older, I’ve decided to change my routine. I’m currently using the Pixi Glow Tonic. It has a subtle scent of roses and it feels like I’ve been bathed in a luxurious rose bath.

I’ve tried to use the Neutogena moisturizer and it ruined my skin. I’ve since been exfoliating like crazy and using my go-to moisturizer.  The Clinique moisture surge helps renew my skin and I’ve been using it religiously day and night to heal the cracks on my face.

I’m an avid fan of the Urban Decay Naked foundation for daily wear and light coverage. In fact, it’s my go to foundation on the routine. But February was filled with many events and occasions were a light coverage foundation just wouldn’t cut it.

That’s when I discovered the Nars Sheer Glow foundation. I don’t need a whole lot of coverage even when I head out to parties or formal events for work. Pairing the Nars Sheer Glow with my Nars concealer provides just enough coverage so my face looks dewy and fresh.

Plus being of Indian descent, I’ve been amazed to find that the Sheer glow foundation has a color called Punjabi. That color happens to be the most perfect match to my skin. It’s not too light nor is it too dark. It just provides the most flawless coverage for my skin.

It’s a bit on the pricey side, which is why I’ll most likely reserve the foundation for special occasions.

I’ve got fine lines under my eye and that makes covering dark circles a difficult task. I like how this formula is very light and doesn’t settle into the creases under my eyes. I also like that I can layer it on and still look natural. Again this is my go to product for my daily routine. For more coverage, I’ll use my Nars concealer.

I’ve been a fan of the Eyeko eyeliner for years (I got my first one in an IPSY bag). Recently it’s not being sold at Sephora anymore and as much as that saddens me, it also gives me the opportunity to try something new. I’ve been using the Stila liquid eyeliner pen for a few months now. It’s not as pigmented as my Eyeko eyeliner, but it is still just as long lasting.

The felt tip on the liner allows me to control my application and create a precise wing. It’s been a blast creating fun liner looks with this pen.
